Structural Cabling

Pratt Communications provides full complement of cabling needs ranging from standard Category 3 cable for phone systems, category 5 & 6 and Gigaspeed cable for high speed computer networks, and fiber optic cable for long haul data networks.
 
Category 3

The standard interface for phone system connections and analog data connection such as modems and fax machines.

Category 5e

Presently the industry standard for 10 base and 100 base networks. Pratt Communications can provide full network cabling including hubs, routers, switches, jacks, and cables. 

Gigaspeed

The next generation cabling designed to work in environments requiring more than 100 base T network speed. Although quite costly, this cabling can set a business up for future growth.

Fiber Optic

Fiber optic is typically employed when data transmission speed requirements are extremely high, or distance of greater than 3,000 feet are required between network connections.

Coaxial

Primarily used for cable television connections as well as security systems and where shielding is an issue. Pratt Communications can provide you with all your residential and commercial wiring no matter how complex.

Unshielded Twisted Pair

This flexible, low cost media can be used for either voice or data communications. Its greatest disadvantage is the limited bandwidth, which restricts long distance transmission with low error rates. A Twisted Pair is a pair of copper wires, with diameters of 0.4-0.8 mm, twisted together and wrapped with a plastic coating. The twisting increases the electrical noise immunity, and reduces the bit error rate (BER) of the data transmission. A UTP cable contains from 2 to 4200 twisted pairs
